もちろんテレワーク。今日はやる気がなかったので、17時に仕事を終わった。

特にすることはなかったが、PS5でロケットリーグというゲームが無料だったのでそれをダウンロードしてやった。

それ以外はBizEnglishしかやっていないので、それを書きます。

Today my girlfriend and I took our dog to the veteri-nary clinic for vaccinations. The clinic is about a 10-minute walk away. When it was getting the vaccine, it was so scared that it had an accident on the stand. After we came home, it did not look well. But now I guess it is feeling better, so it is very eager to play.

Japanese researchers finds some drugs effective against coronavirus

A Japanese team has found some existing medical agents effective in inhibiting(stop/prevent) RNA viruses, including the new coronavirus, through an experiment using induced pluri*potent stem, or iPS, cells. In the study, the team first administered 500 drugs to iPS cells infected with Sendai virus which is an RNA virus often used in gene therapy research. As a result, the team found that six drugs showed effects in curbing infection. The team then used the six drugs for human liver-derived (de-rayvd) cells infected with the Ebola virus and African green monkey kidney cells infected with the new coronavirus. Finally, the team found raloxifene and remdesivir showed antiviral effects for both the Ebola- and new coronavirus-infected cells, while pioglitazone proved effective against the coronavirus. However, clinical trials have not been conducted to finally confirm the effects of the drugs. If the team has drugs capable of inhibiting multiple RNA viruses, they could also be effective against new viruses that may be discovered in the future. I have great hopes of their study’s success. One of the reasons why the Coronavirus is scary is that we do not have a specific medicine for it. The good thing about their study is that it targets existing medicine, so the drugs are already in widespread use and are easy to obtain. I hope that their study will become more advanced and that one day we will not have to be afraid of the Coronavirus.
