Japan is currently suffering from the fourth wave of the Coronavirus. The wave began in Osaka and now the wave is about to grow in Tokyo. The reason why Japan is suffering from the fourth wave is that the new Coronavirus variant of the U.K ishas spread. The variant is more likely to spread than others. However, the government has not been able to take any significant action against it. I think this wave will be the biggest in Japan. In fact, the number of infected people in Osaka was the highest today.
Could Mushroom Packaging Replace Styrofoam? | World Wide Waste
Ecovative is a biomaterials company headquartered in Green Island, New York that provides sustainable alternatives using mushroom technology. For example, they can make a material from mushrooms to replace Styrofoam. Nowadays, most people use a lot of Styrofoam everyday, but it is not good for the environment. It can stay in the environment for up to five centuries and less than one percent is ever recycled. In contrast, packaging made from mushrooms can break down/decay/decompose in just 30 days. Other companies, such as dell, have collaborated with this company and launched products using this material. Additionally, Ecovative also makes vegan meat and leather from mushrooms. It usually requires a lot of water and feed to get the meat and leather, but if you make the same amount of these from mushrooms, you can save a lot of material. In fact, these products have already been commercialized, and the company plans to expand their sales channels in the future.
I think this mushroom technology is very interesting because I can not imagine that different materials like Styrofoam, meat, and leather can all be made from mushrooms. In addition, I think it is great that all of these materials are much more environmentally friendly than what we are using today. I hope this mushroom technology of Ecovative will spread more.
